I booked a solo trip to San Francisco over Labor Day weekend. As a woman traveling alone, I wanted to find a hotel that was centrally located and that I felt was safe. This hotel exceeded my expectations. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The concierge was able to get me tickets to a sold out tour, on the first day that I got there. I did not have to use a car the entire trip. The tour that I did to Napa Valley had a pick up site one block away, which made it convenient getting there and getting back. The rooms were absolutely beautiful with the sights and sounds of the city. The hotel bar was beautiful convenient and fun. They had a great drinks great food and great entertainment on the weekend. If I choose to travel back to San Francisco again, I will definitely use this hotel again.
The hotel is good. Unfortunately the bathroom is very tiny and the shower design allows water to completely wet the bathroom floor after each shower.

The Beacon Grand had what I was looking for in a hotel in San Francisco: great location (near transit, hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.); great ambiance (I love the way that the hotel has been preserved, marrying both historic elements with modern conveniences); great staff (all geared toward customer service, and friendly); a great room (while not a great view, the room was large and comfortable); and at a great price (one of the more reasonably priced hotels that I looked at in deciding whether to go to San Francisco at all).

The timer on the bathroom was obnoxious because the light went off while I was in the shower. I had to fish around in pitch blanch darkness to find the light switch. Also the toilet runs every time you flush it. My advice, fix the toilet and with the savings you can forget about the light switch timer.
