Arrived to find the elevator or if service. Had received an email about it while in flight. Had to walk up and down narrow winding steps to get to and from our room. Second day had to ask for coffee for the room. It took about 30 minutes for sometime to find regular coffee and deliver to the room. Asked for late check out the day before departure and was told no problem. Day of departure we went for a trip to Alcatraz as our final adventure. Upon return we found house keeping in our room an be our stuff missing. We were told it was down stairs. Went downstairs to find the same manager who approved late check out and only some of our belongings. He made a bunch of excuses which to me were useless. When i asked about the rest of our stuff he had to "go find it". I think someone else who worked there wanted it too and thought we wouldn't notice it was missing. When he returned with it, it was all dumped into two separate bags, wife's makep was dumped out into a bag, etc. What was supposed to be a great get away for the wife and i would have been much better had e stayed somewhere else.
Our stay was wonderful. Hotel Was beautiful. Great proximity to area events. We very much enjoyed our stay.
This was one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had at a hotel. Franck the host was so kind and helpful I would highly recommend this hotel
Everyone was extremely nice and very helpful and our stay was perfect and are planning to return soon
Well located in Nov Hill near China Town, Union Square n more. Cute older hotel with chraci. Smaller rooms but clean n comfortable. Parking costs extra n runs about $40/nite. No breakfast but can walk anywhere. Reasonably priced..front desk helpful with getting around city..would return.
This is a wonderful place to stay in San Francisco. It is like a little piece of Paris in the Paris of the USA.
The property was clean. Quiet, clean and nice room. Staff provided extra soap and bath products as I requested due to special needs.
Phenomenal Service Extraordinary property that is impeccably clean Decor and history of the hotel is fantastic
It was lovely, most comfortable, and in a great location.
I liked that it was quaint and located in a part of the city with easy access to attractions. The down side is that one can easily hear people in the hallways, in the space above the room and outside street noise.
Stayed one night. It is an old building but if you like to experience a century-old, well-maintained and clean place to stay while feeling safe at night this would be a reasonably priced place to stay in this area. The staff is very helpful and pleasant.
Staff were friendly and helpful! Safe location. It's an old building and we heard people above our room when they walked.
A lot of charm; has old style elevator with sliding gate. Great location; just off Powell Street near Union Square. Staff, especially Jo, were very helpful. Option of purchasing breakfast and dinner. Price for downtown San Francisco was excellent. Rooms are very small (it's downtown San Francisco and real estate is expensive). No ice machine, which is problemmatic when it's hot and you want to have a cold water bottle when walking around.
This property was BEAUTIFUL. It truly felt like you were in France with the decor and the rooms. The rooms are not massive, as they’re not in Europe. So keep that mind. But the staff was unbelievably friendly! They allowed us to drop our suitcases off early so we could walk around town without them. Then allowed us to keep them there as we browsed town after check out. The location was perfect as well. Very central to the main hubs of the city and airport. Overall I would absolutely stay here again.
Right beside the cable car stop, a straight road walk to powell bart station within 10 minutes
