i packed brand new white socks. After walking in the carpet for five minutes, the bottoms of the socks were filthy. Five minutes. The carpet is disgusting. There’s mold in the bathroom. And I was sharing a room with a cockroach.
The bald man who checked me in was unpleasant but was very nice to the people before me. Maybe because I don’t speak Spanish. He made me feel like I was going to destroy the property and kept telling me about incidentals. The room was clean but very old and run down. The floor looked dirty so I kept my shoes on. They also use a very strong deodorant in the room and it will get in your mouth; it gave me a headache. But it’s close to the action of Hollywood and the venue I visited for a concert. Not terrible or great for $143. Would stay again if I was in a bind; keep your expectations low.

I liked the proximity to Hollywood and I believe there's a subway stop nearby though I didn't use it for this trip. I was visiting for work, but I used to live in the immediate area, and was amazed at the new construction in Hollywood overall. I was happy enough with the room, I got parking late at night, and check-in and out was very easy. The outside of the property left a bit to be desired and I was happy that the room was updated versus the exterior. Depending on how adventurous you are, you could probably grab meals in the area, though, like the rest of Hollywood, there's plenty of homeless people and dirty sidewalks. Think of the area a bit like urban residential - grocery stores, liquor stores, food trucks, take out, etc. To my knowledge, there's not much to do in terms of tourist attractions, but you're only a few minutes' drive away from the attractions at Hollywood and Highland.

Bad very bad. $50 motels with bed bugs are much cleaner than this American Best Value. Don't be fooled by name.
Very convenient. Conditioner was a bit noisy. Otherwise okay.
Bathroom doorjamb was rotting away in pieces. Nightstand drawers were broken with front coming off. AC would not stay on for longer than 45 minutes, then you had to turn it to fan, wait, then back to cool. Door to room was not sealed, so cold air went out while hot air and critters came in. Latch on door was extremely loose, one good shove could get you in. And the topper was when a cockroach crawled across my food. Needless to say, we won't be back.

I guarantee that you are miss reading the situation. Our front desk agents do not treat people differently based on language or anything like that. Please do not confuse being unpleasant with being clear about our policy's.. have a wonderful day.
