We had a wonderful week at Catalonia Royal. It is a small resort with a great staff Our room was clean, housekeeping and room service was spot on. The pool and beach were small and lovely. The food was just average and evening entertainment was limited. However if you are looking for a quiet and romantic getaway…this would be the perfect place
Nothing good
When I first got there they put us in a room that smelled like the forest, very humid, 100 mosquitoes in the room. We complained and we were told they would switch our room out the following day. That never happened so we had to suck it up and stay in this disgusting room. We were told that we had a “$300 free credit” that we could use on the spa, gift shop, or anything else in the resort. All to find out at checkout that we had to pay $213 for stuff bought in resort. We told the lady that a free credit means it’s FREE… then the language barrier just so happened to kick in. I’ve stayed at multiple hard rocks in Mexico, and a few other resorts. Never have I been treated in such a way. NEVER AGAIN CATALONIA.
Food was not great
My wife and daughter and I spent 4 days at the resort and enjoyed the entire experience. The food was a great value, quality and variety as were the drinks and service. The beach and pool are great amenities. We will definately return in the near future.
We had a fantastic weekend , we celebrate my husbands birthday and the staff was super friendly and attentive. The food, the location, the cleaning was amazing, we will come back.

My fiancé and I had an amazing week long vacation at this resort. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The food on the resort was amazing and delicious. The property is beautiful and very clean. The ocean was filled with seaweed but that’s not anything the resort can fix or change. The pool area made up for the lack of us swimming in the ocean. The pool size was phenomenal. We loved all the activities through the day and at night so we didn’t get bored. My fiancé loved the beach and pool volleyball. The excursions were really easy to book as well. I really have only 1 complaint, and that is during the day pool party. We think my fiancé was “drugged” during that party. He went from coherent to incoherent in about 15 minutes (he wasn’t drinking enough for it be alcohol). We asked to view the footage from the cameras that were at the pool and was told by guest services that the security team would be in contact with us and they never did. It’s a huge safety concern for us that security never followed up. Thank God he was ok after this incident but the next person might not be as lucky. Other than that we had a lovely trip.
The property was amazing. The service with Avion was the issue and check in with terrible.
