Last year we stayed here and loved it. This time they charged us a lot to upgrade, didnt fulfill the upgrade promises they made, free bottle of tequila. The resort is beautiful and the restaurans are really good!!

I unfortunately stayed at the resort during a Hurricane. Not an ideal situation for anyone or anywhere.

Could not check us in on Saturday because of evacuation of the incoming hurricane.No adequate preparation was made for alternative accommodation.We had to pay out of pocket for one night at Holiday inn and suites after getting stranded at Suncast hotel where we were dropped .Finally checked in one Sunday and left on Monday.Trying to get my refund for Saturday but was referred to Orbitz the booking agency

Had a great stay. The property was well maintained, clean, staff were friendly and food was great!

It was far and in the middle of nowhere. You will definitely need transportation to go into town. Staff was great! Entertainment was great! But there was a flood on several floors when it was raining/storm.

Food was subpar. Restaurants take forever with your food. Buffet host was rude. Pools close so early, 6 and 8pm! The worst part of this trip was we had workers enter our room THREE times with the DND on our door. Two of the times we were in there. The first time the workers denied that they opened the door but it was a lie as the door alarm went off. The second time was worse as it was 4am and my husband had to block the lady from coming in. She used her key to enter even with the DND sign. We called the front and no ones stories matched and they didn’t seem to care how unsafe we felt. Just be aware of this if you stay here. I’m not sure what their plan was with entering our rooms 3 times when instructed not to. We won’t be returning or recommending this place.

Overall the resort was very nice. Check in was not easy and they told us they were going to upgrade us and to come back in a hour. When we came back in an hour they did not upgrade and then wanted to charge us more for a new room. We never asked for an upgrade so this was quite confusing and the customer service at check in was lacking for a resort. After check in everything was perfect, the resort was clean, food was good, and staff was friendly. I wish there were more signs pointing out where the elevators were. Overall, I would return!

Beautiful resort, but definitely not for families. New modern decor makes this place look amazing and inviting. Sadly, if you have kids and actually want to spend time with them. Your dining options and activities are very limited. I mean like three dinning choices for dinner. Kids are not allowed in most of the resort. Food is decent, but menu never changes. So with three restaurants, it is pretty bad. If you have kids definitely look at different resorts. This is way overpriced for what you get. I will probably not go to another AMR resort.

This resort is beautiful, but there are several things that I had thought was a turn off. For starters, I love the inclusive idea on all food and drinks (except for wine). The foods and drinks were just below average. Nothing I ate truly tasted out of this world. Nothing was amazing. Second, we got the swim out pool and to get to the room is terrible. Their elevator system is just a horrible layout. The swim out pool is like a pond. Not worth it. Third, they hard sell you on their return back package. Terrible customer services. It feels like a timeshare. Which is something I absolutely dislike. Instant turn off. Finally, the COVID testing on site. This is a great idea and made things super easy for us to return back to the state, but my goodness. They stick that up your nose, through your brain cell and then it feels like it went down to the back of your brain and down to the spinal cord deep. It might have tried to tickle my butt cheeks. Why does it needs to go so deep in the back? The nurse will tell you it's only for 3 secs. But their 3 secs went like this. Take a deep breath. She inserted deep into your nose. You're in tear because it went in so deep. Then she said, "Are you ready? keep breathing! 1...2...3." Literally, probably took about 10 secs and not 3. All and all, I am not sure if I would come back here. The customer services are amazing. Everyone is SUPER friendly with positive energy. I love that, but that's it.

We originally attempted to extend our trip, but online booking did not allow for it—a blessing in disguise. A lot of construction happened throughout the resort during our stay in early August 2021, including loud noises in the AM, they were still installing handrail bars along pathways to the beach, paint jobs in main area, glass dividers and panels were being installed with minimal safety of construction staff. Amenities were unclear as many items and restaurants were split between Dreams and Secrets. Restaurant times were inconsistent with restaurant hours (i.e. Seaside Grill was open throughout the night when the hours online stated closing at 5pm). Dreams resort was definitely limited on food selection. By Day 2, you start to notice that most of the restaurants carry the same exact food served in different manners. Service was inconsistent throughout which may be due to half of staff (reported by the staff) transitioning from a different resort with years of experience and the other staff who were brand new to the resort life. Side note: Having some understanding of Spanish is definitely helpful to navigate the resort. The seasoned staff definitely takes care of you if you are nice. At one point, the staff reported the resort is still under construction and was supposed to send out notices to guests who booked that they are not ready to open yet, but they have the option of a refund/reschedule. We did not get that notice. Vouchers are not worth it unless you spend more.

Poor management, not checks and balances. My room stank the entire time I was at the resort, poor lighting in the rooms, beverages in room not stocked. Stay 7 nights only received face clothes twice, they never replaced them. The deadbolt in our room did not work for the 5 nights. Barefoot Grill: it took over 45 minutes to get 4 hot dogs, very unorganized staff, order tickets flew around and got out of order, Food and Beverage Manager should spend more time at this restaurant training and be more diligent with the staff. The bathrooms by the pool on the Dreams side: bathroom stall door handles missing, deadbolts not working, no toilet paper. The secret side, to get to the lower bathroom, the hallway stank like sewer, terrible smell. However, the bathroom was clean and had a wonderful smell.

Dear Roseline, Due to the recent Category IV Hurricane Roselyn on the Saffir Simpson scale that threatened the Mexican Pacific coast; the executive team of Secrets Bahía Mita Surf & Spa Resort following the recommendations of national and local authorities such as the National Coordination of Civil Protection and the Government of Nayarit; evacuated the Resort. The security, well-being, and safety of guests are always, and remain, the highest priority in all emergency situations. In accordance with internal security protocols, said evacuation involved relocating guests within a shelter in rooms of our sister hotels: Sunscape, Secrets Vallarta Bay, and Dreams Vallarta Bay. Executive committee personnel, operations committee personnel, as well as operational staff members were always found in these hotels to attend to the guests needs. At the end of the storm, and when the weather conditions were safe, guests were transported back to Secrets Bahía Mita Surf & Spa Resort. We would like to offer you a sincere apology for the inconvenience presented during the past emergency. This meteorological phenomenon was out of the Resort's hands, as we couldnt know the possible affectations the hurricane may cause due to its dangerous trajectory. As early mentioned, our primary goal was to take care of our guests safety. We wish we could have accommodated all our guests in a room, but unfortunately, this wasnt possible due to the Secrets & Dreams Vallarta Bay's high occupancy.Agencies will give the proper following up on your comments.
