The hotel was good overall. The resort staff was really nice and the location was perfect. We wish there was valet and that the restaraunt was food allergy friendly. The restaurant only had two options for gluten-free items. We booked massages at the "Spa", which was not a spa at all. Definitely false advertisement calling themselves a Spa. The owner was rude.

Resort location is awesome walkable to restaurants, market, lively street. Resort is old, Pool is small with beautiful sunset view all around the property Staff is very friendly specially Maria at front desk she was very helpful with getting around the town and recommendation.

We stayed at the Royal Kona resort for our visit to the big island. We booked an ocean view room and the room we received did have a nice view of the ocean and a large balcony. The rooms were a bit basic as far as decor and modernization but otherwise the hotel overall had great facilities. The restaurant had very good breakfast and dinner with the bar being close to the pool. The pool was great to swim in and sun bathe while the hotel "lagoon" was great for both swimming and snorkeling. Parking was an extra fee and sometime the lot was full, which was a pain, but overall the stay was great and we would stay here again.

Loved the view of the ocean! What we didn’t appreciate was we learned when checking in, ocean view room that was to have a kingsize bed, was not available and it would be 2 double beds. The alternative offered was a room for disabled, which would be a kingsize bed, no bathtub and no mirrors. Seems people woth disabilities don’t need a mirror. They said they have a room with kingsized bed, but because it is oceanfront rather than ocean view, it will cost us $30 more a night. They added the room we wanted was only a request and not guaranteed. We showed our Orbitz receipt and it showed we were to get a kingsized bed, no mention of it not being guaranteed. In the end, I we took the $30 a night upgrade and had to pay an extra $200 , so we could get what we had asked for from Orbitz booking. Btw, if you end up in one of their ADA rooms, hire a lawyer to sue them for an ADA violation of not having a mirror.
I liked the open lobby and dining area, very clean and inviting. Nice pool with ocean view. Conveniently located to shopping.
