Nice hotel in a run down area. Banyan drive used to be nice. There are at least two abandoned hotels next door. There are A LOT of homeless in Hilo now (just like Oahu where I live). The hotel was renovated but still had some minor cosmetic issues- curtains, etc. Beautiful view, could see the cruise ships. We absolutely loved the new lounge area. Nice drink and pupu selections. We were given two drink tickets per night to use at the lounge with live music and a dancer. Valet parking only was annoying. The area surrounding the hotel is industrial. There are nice parks within walking distance, however. One hour away from Volcanoes. Cutesy coffee shops and decent grocery stores nearby. The room upstairs had ppl smoking. I had to call the front desk and they took care of it. ALL hotels in Hawaii are non-smoking. We really enjoyed our stay here. 4 stars because the pool is right by the restaurant and smoking guests upstairs

The staff and hotel were really great, the area it is in sadly has seen better yrs. Loved the view from our ocean front room, the beds were nice, bathroom is a bit strange but nice size. Really wish there was a bigger pool, and a hot tub.
The only odd thing was the window between the bathroom and the bedroom. I didn't dislike or like just odd. One of rhe better hotel showers I've been in.

Had issue with room. When first walk in room, smelled stale, unfresh odor. A/C right next to bed just above nightstand. Not good location. Too Cold. Had to turn off. Ants in bathroom around sink. Later found more on desk by TV. Found 1 in bed. Requested another room. Had to wait 2 days to be switched. The staff was nice and tried to ammodate requests as well as possible. Overall: Good. We would stay there again. After 2nd

The property met our needs but unfortunately we were only there overnight and are not able to provide a full assessment.
Everything was very pleasing with no problems. We did not have enough time to use all the amenities they offered which were quite a few. We had to walk a short distance outside in the rain to the attached restaurant which was a little weird.
Beautiful property with a nice pool. The views and grounds are incredible. Morning beverages were provided on your way out the door free of charge. Had a miscommunication at the check in desk the first night but no problems with anyone after that. The valet service was complimentary and the guys running it were really helpful and patient as it took us a bit unloading and loading kiddos. This hotel is close to everything you need. The security officer took his job very seriously which helped us feel safe as there is a lot of foot traffic in this area.
No hard copy information about the hotel or amenities was to be found in the room. Front desk is quite meager for the size of the hotel. The room rates are not a good value.
