The room had a faint smell of cigarette smoke that some of my clothes came home with. The shower/tub was still covered in old soap or shampoo that could have been cleaned off with more time spent on it. The front doors were supposed to lock after 10:00 PM and only let you in with your room key but we got back the second night at midnight and the doors opened immediately. All that being said, you get what you pay for and I wasn't exactly surprised. The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful and attentive. Very polite and friendly.

When I arrived, the water was out until 6pm because the boiler was being replaced. There was a bug in the bathroom, the TV was a little glitchy, and I could smell weed from the hallway in the AM without even opening my door. But, the bed was clean, I felt safe, and the staff were nice and friendly.

Hotel under renovations.
So they have started the interior remodel of the Best Western Lower South End Hotel and the construction noise can get loud during the day. Also, when I checked in on Tuesday afternoon I was informed the City of Charlotte had shut the water off to the property due to a main water line break on Old Pineville Road which runs along the side of the hotel. The staff at checkin informed me the water would be back on around 6:00pm however it was well after midnight before the water was turned back on.

Queens University visit
The staff were very nice and helpful, but the hotel was not in great shape. I didn’t expect to have renovations being done on a daily basis and there were a lack of amenities. For a cheap place to stay it was OK.
