Definitely outdated. If you can get past the older rooms, and just use it as a place to sleep, you’ll be fine.

Great location and the staff was wonderful, especially Sophia who was awesome! We would definitely recommend Southwinds and would stay there again.
Room very small , noisy A/C, room next to maintenance room was very noisy also. Online pictures greatly enhances the actual appearance of this dump.

You cannot find a better value for your money in key west. Especially not this close to the southernmost point. location is great, felt safe. The room #7 was nice! large, a bedroom, a sitting room with pullout- the real bed was a “queen” but felt like king size. a kitchen with microwave and full size fridge. 2 pools with lots of seating, but they don’t get much sun in winter and aren’t heated so it was a bit too chilly, but not motel’s fault- most pools aren’t heated in Fla. staff was attentive, breakfast was included, yogurt, cereal, milk, muffins, juice, coffee. It saved us spending $100 for our family of 4 every day. Key West isn’t a cheap vacation but staying here helped us spend money on more important things, like excursions. AND we stayed over NYE with special treats waiting in the room! They had 4 professional 2024 cookies, beads, bottle of champagne, hats, a few other offerings to make our stay special. I was so impressed by those extra touches. Notable cons: cheap and damaged furniture/decor, but functional. Pool not heated. Tiny bathroom. And there is nowhere for them to store your luggage: check in is at 4, we got in at 1 and wanted to drop bags bc we knew room not ready. They allowed us to drop bags but they just sat there in the lobby unsecured until we got back. will absolutely stay here again when we travel with our kids. If we were just 2 adults, we would likely splurge on somewhere a little nicer.

This was my second stay at this Motel. There are more places to shop in terms of food within walking distance. I traveled solo- was very happy with the accommodations. Would definitely stay there again. The combination of price and quality is where it's at with this property.
Great place to stay in Key West.

Staff was pleasant, and rooms were as clean as they could be given the conditions of the property. For as much as they are charging for this hotel, (especially during low season) I expected a lot more for my money.
This is in a great location for walking. You have plenty of eating, drinking, and art galleries close by. Esay walk to the Southernmost point and Hemmingway home. Rooms are small. But, what you'd expect close to the beach. Rent bikes or e-scooters on the property. Not fancy, but I'd stay there again. Staff is very nice!

The property was a dump, so outdated, blurry first generation small flatscreen that you couldn’t hear over the roar of the air conditioner. There were gaps under door and around the ac unit, where you could see outside, there was no chain lock for the door and it was down a dark alley it felt very unsafe, no safe for your belongings, no counter space for anything in the bathroom or shower, everything dingy and dull, cracked floor tiles, no closet. The staff was beyond rude when we asked for a different room they lied and said the rooms in the other part of the hotel weren’t kings, we know they are, and they were super short and rude in general, they even go so far as to have a sign in the lobby that says something by to the effect of “the lobby is for check in and check out purposes, not for congregating” that makes it pretty clear the level of interaction they want to have with the guests. The pool was cloudy, everything was old and gross, and it was expensive for what a pit it was. Also the remote control was the stickiest filthiest thing in the room. All around gross accommodations with miserable staff, there was one nice lady working the front desk and I feel bad she has to work with such ratchet hags in such a dumpy property. ZONK!
