The property is closest to Carlsbad Caverns of any hotel. it is hardly as advertised (at least in the 'shoulder' season). No swimming pool. The only restaurant in the small town is closed on Sunday/Monday. The grocery store is very very limited. The laundromat is across the street, not on the hotel property. Eating and other conveniences are far better at Carlsbad. The night check-in was impolite. I received numerous insect bites, which became inflamed and necessitated a doctor's visits - I don't think they were bed bugs, and I guess there are flies near the hotel - although i could have caught them elsewhere. The room we had was big, but the hotel was nearly empty. The breakfast was some mediocre coffee, cheap cereal in small cartons, and an apple or orange. It was qute empty. Avoid Sunday and Monday if at all possible, and I would suggest that if you need to stay here, make it only one night.
