Departing from Phoenix

Your flight to San Diego will leave from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which is about fifteen minutes by car from downtown. At the airport, you can find parking for between $9 and $25 per day. If you don’t want to drive, you can board the Phoenix light rail and get off at the Forty-Fourth Street and Washington station. Outside the station, look for the shuttle bus to the airport. If you choose to take public transportation, allow extra time to get to the airport in case of delays that are beyond your control.

Experience San Diego

San Diego International Airport lies about three miles from the downtown area. The easiest way to get to your hotel is by taxi; in normal traffic, the drive takes about ten to fifteen minutes. A public bus runs from the airport to the downtown area, but it is only recommended if you can easily manage your luggage. As you are planning your trip, keep the weather in mind. Although San Diego has a relatively moderate climate, the temperature can spike to between 80°F and 100°F during any month of the year. In general, however, winters in San Diego average 60°F, while summers average 70°F.
