Flights from Dallas to Los Angeles are frequently booked for vacation and business. Low fares and cheap hotel and rental car rates are easy to research and book on Orbitz.com.
Dallas, Texas
Home to "America's Team," the NFL's Cowboys, Dallas is a prime example of the saying, "Everything's Bigger in Texas." The city boasts more than one million residents, an instantly recognizable skyline, and a self-confident attitude unmatched anywhere else worldwide. The city is served by two major airports, Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, the latter located halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. The majority of travel outside of the state of Texas is through Dallas/Fort Worth, with United, American, and Virgin Airlines, among those that offer nonstop service to Los Angeles. Dallas Love is limited by the Wright Amendment to providing flights with one or more stops to Los Angeles. Dallas Love Field is located north of downtown Dallas, offers convenient short- and long-term parking, and can easily be reached by taxi, limo, or public bus.
Parking at Dallas/Fort Worth is available in the terminal, express, and remote lots, with valet parking also provided if you'd rather leave your car at the curb. The terminal lot and express lots are served by a free shuttle van, while the more economical remote lot offers continuous service to the terminals. Public transportation is available via Trinity Railway Express, DART bus, and Airporter shuttle services. Several taxi and limo agencies provide transportation to the airport for single travelers or those wishing to share a ride. If you've skipped breakfast, check out the unique Cereality restaurant in Terminal C once you've arrived. If you'd rather grab a cup of coffee, Starbucks kiosks are located in all terminals.
Los Angeles, California
With its miles of beaches, Hollywood history, and premier shopping, Los Angeles is a prime destination for visitors from around the world. The city welcomes almost 62 million visitors by air alone each year. The laid-back attitude of a coastal town meets the glitz and glamour of the film industry, making for a unique travel experience.
Arriving in Los Angeles
Incoming flights to the city land at the Los Angeles International Airport, located 16 miles outside of the city, along the Pacific coast. Locals affectionately refer to the bustling airport as LAX, after its airport code. If you've rented a car, 11 rental agencies offer shuttle service to off-site rental lots. Free shuttle bus service is available at the Metro Green Line Aviation Station, located outside of each terminal. The line provides service to the Metro Bus Center. Taxis provide curbside pick-up outside of the terminals, and ride sharing is also available. Several downtown hotels offer free shuttle service to their guests.
The weather in Los Angeles is mild throughout the year, with daily highs in the 80s during the months of June through August. Fall and early spring are great times to visit the area, and you can often find off-season rates for hotels and attractions. The temperatures are cooler then, in the mid-60s to mid-70s, so make sure to pack sweaters and jackets for off-season vacations.
The majority of visitors to Los Angeles head for Hollywood, Sunset Boulevard, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Grauman's Chinese Theater features a courtyard filled with the handprints and signatures of famous actors and actresses, all set in concrete. The theater is located just down the street from the Hollywood & Highland Center, a relatively new shopping center. The Center is also home to the Kodak Theater and the Academy Awards. Those looking for a quieter vacation can head to the hills and the newly renovated Griffith Observatory, a planetarium featuring a hands-on telescope and fabulous views of the Los Angeles Basin. Families enjoy visiting the famous Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and the Los Angeles Zoo in Griffith Park.
