Fly to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
With a population of more than two million, Taipei is a busy yet friendly city with plenty on offer. We'd recommend a trip to Elephant Mountain in the Nangang District for hiking fans, and the Maokang Gondola offers a fantastic view of the city and beyond.
Outside of Taipei you can spend time in the Changhua district, with the impressive Tianhou Temple being a must-see attraction. Bagua Mountain is another great place to visit, as is Lukang Longshan Temple.
The National Taiwan Museum will interest those who want to learn about the region s history, while the Taipei Fine Arts Museum is perfect for those who want to peruse some culture.
Getting around
When you fly to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) you'll land about 50 minutes away from downtown Taipei. Connections are plentiful and include regular shuttle buses and the nearby high speed rail system. There are some excellent amenities in the airport which include a game area, a library, dining and plenty of shopping. Disabled facilities are excellent in the airport and car parking is available in both Terminal 1 and 2.
