Quick trip to Guerande

Modern hotel close to the centre of the old town. Convenient for visiting the region. Good sized rooms and excellent air conditioning. Would stay here again.

Comfortable overnight stay!

Check-in was slow, but efficient. Although pre-paid online, Reception in error thought we had to pay on site and quoted rate of 69.70 euros. Then it was determined payment had been made online, but at a higher rate of 85.00 euros. I will need to discuss this with Hotels.com, but I assume I will not receive any rebate. First assigned room had no wifi service, which we needed. Front Desk immediately and easily changed us to a different room with excellent wifi service. Front Desk Receptionist was very helpful and professional. Room is very comfortable. Hotel is very well located with a short drive to many interesting places. Unfortunately, room does not have a refrigerator. Overall opinion, good value for money.

Nice, comfortable hotel

Hotel is clean and updated. Sofa bed was a little rough on the back, probably good for kids. The king bead was very comfortable. Nice size room and bathroom. Quite area. Nice looking pool area, even though we did not use it. Great location, close to medieval town and other sight seeing.

Very nice single nights stay at the Best Western.

The check-in was great and the front desk very responsive and accommodating. The bathroom facilities could use some work .. i.e., the exhaust fan did not operate ..and couple of other things in there need attention. But, overall, a very nice single nights stay at the Best Western.

I was most disappointed by this hotel. When we arrived the lady in reception was less than friendly, which is always a shame, but if you only need to check in it’s not so bad. Sadly we needed more, when I tried to find out about the spa she just shrugged at me, even when I asked I French I just got shrugged at, at this point I gave up. We then thought we would explore the area as it says in the info that the hotel is opposite the salt marshes. If by opposite the salt marshes they mean, the salt marshes that have been built on and is now a retail complex, yes true but not quite what we wanted! We returned to hotel room thinking a nice shower after a long days travelling would be nice. At which point we discovered there was no hot water. Another trip to the friendly receptionist, yes she was aware they had no hot water, there had been an issue. You would at least think they would tell you this when you check in! Could we expect hot water at any Point during our stay? Ah the now familiar shrug! I will not be staying here again and likely avoiding Best Westerns generally If this is what you have to put up with. Not recommended.

In this hotel, they know what customer service is.

Good hotel in Guerande, walkable distance to the remparts, great breakfast, at extra cost, good room not to large, but everybody working there has a very strong sense of customer service. This is just unusual in France nowadays, unfortunately. 10 mn drive to La Baule, and 3mn drive to the Leclerc supermarket, one of the best in the area.

Totally characterless Hotel

On first sight the hotel looks more like a hospital. We booked the hotel through Expedia and therefore assumed the hotel being a Best Western would be of a very good standard, how wrong can you be! Having driven a fair distance we arrived and unpacked, decided to take a shower and that's when the problems started, the bathroom floor had lots of little grooves in it where you stood to use the hand basin, and guess what the sink plug didnt work so I had to shave under running water, that did wonders for the environment! The bracket on the pole holding the shower was broken so the shower head was about 4 feet from the ground, OK if you just want to shower your bottom half, next was the taps to adjust the water, it took about five minutes to get the temperature right. Having eaten, time to retire and the bed had a mattress that collapsed in the centre. The place was a disaster!!

Friendly staff.

The hotel was "fit for purpose", ie we needed to be in Guérande for some business and it was conveniently located. It was obviously a low point in their season and we saw the breakfast bar reduced as the clientèle dwindled to next to nothing. However, each member of staff we dealt with was pleasant and helpful, and I would recommend the hotel.

Guerande a Hidden Gem

Very French not overly touristy. Lots of staff spoke English though. Manager Jean-Phillipe was fantastic. Breakfast lots of choice fresh fruit and juice plus all the staple french things and as a nice touch an English option. Bar was never crowded so created a very relaxing environment. Parking was easy lots of room. Nice fitness suite with massage if you were so inclined. Seemed a little like hard work to me. I'm of the lazy persuasion!!! All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and extended our stay by 3 days. As an after thought Guerande was facinating.

What a find.

What a find. It seems to be stuck out of town on a little estate but it's only 10 minutes' walk into Guerande itself along a quiet road. It seemed very posh to us - "boutique" hotels are not usually our thing - but it was welcoming, very stylish and the air-conditioning was silent! Free parking - in the shade if you work it out. Swimming pool - not huge but in use, particularly in the evening Breakfast looked good but we were too stingy to pay the extra Dog-friendly. See below for location, etc. We'll be back!

The Ideal Base

A fantastic hotel with excellent staff. It is an ideal base for exploring the area. Guerande is beautiful and a short moonlit walk away fro the hotel. Staff are happy to recommend restaurants and arrange booking/taxis. I will definately return. If they had these hotels in Britain I would use them.
