Studio loft w/ pool, spa & gardens near downtown

Summary:
House of Meesh is a newly renovated, two-story detached building located in up-and-coming historic Springfield, less than one mile from downtown Jacksonville. The former garage space has been professionally transformed into two standalone studio units (w/separate entrances) — one upstairs (The Loft) and one downstairs (Clubhouse). The building is situated on a large rare double lot in the urban neighborhood, with a pool, jacuzzi, pavilion, fire pit, towering oak trees and tropical landscaping.

The Space:
The upstairs studio unit, House of Meesh: Loft, is a romantic, poolside hideaway, with dramatic floral wallpaper on one wall, and windows with a sweeping view of the property on the other side. Hues of purple, pink and teal give the studio space a rich, romantic feel. Note: Visitors must climb a flight of stairs to access this unit.

With the help of a professional designer, we created the one-of-a-kind studio spaces, meticulously furnishing and appointing the units to include everything a traveler could need.

The property includes a pool, jacuzzi and spacious garden oasis, with lounge areas in the sun or under a pavilion’s shade. On cooler nights, guests are welcome to use the stone paver fire pit. Private, secured parking spaces for both units are available via a back alley and an electronic privacy gate. Both units are monitored with outdoor-only security cameras.

Walk or bike to downtown events like Jacksonville Jaguars games or concerts at Vystar Memorial Arena or Daily’s Place, or hide away in this garden oasis. Swim, soak in the hot tub or simply enjoy wine by the pool after a long workday. A peaceful sanctuary, it’s easy to forget you’re in an urban neighborhood, within walking distance to downtown Jacksonville.

The Neighborhood:
House of Meesh is located in historic Springfield, Jacksonville’s hippest up-and-coming urban neighborhood. As the oldest neighborhood in Jacksonville, Springfield still retains much of its historic character and contains some of the best examples of late 19th and early 20th century architecture that the city has to offer.

Springfield, like so many other urban neighborhoods in the United States, fell into a period of decline in the mid 20th century. As the neighborhood is still undergoing revitalization, many of the homes have been beautifully restored, while some still need attention. You may see aspects of the transitional nature such as litter and a few homes in disrepair. However, the neighborhood is a safe, vibrant and active community, with highly engaged residents. For the safety of our guests and their belongings, House of Meesh features off-street, gated parking and outdoor-only security cameras.

Modern day Springfield is arguably one of the most attractive neighborhoods in Jacksonville, due to its beautiful architecture, gridded streets, walkability and bikeability, variety of parks, eclectic nightlife, unique restaurants, proximity to Downtown, abundant social events, and friendly neighbors. National, state, and local media have taken notice and highlighted our dynamic and growing community.

Getting Around:
Springfield is an urban neighborhood, less than one mile from downtown Jacksonville. The neighborhood is the most walkable and bikeable in all of Jacksonville, and you'll see many neighbors driving their golf carts to restaurants, bars and breweries.
The apartment is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a balcony. Other standard amenities include a coffee maker and an ironing board.

Our stay
The property was very nice, and the room was cozy. The only negative was not being able to utilize the hot tub when we wanted to, and the bed mattress needs to be replaced, it is very uncomfortable.

Looks can be decieving
Great pics online! Booked 5 nights & looked forward to pool, hot tub & walking to dinner. Proceed with caution! Once booked & they give you the exact address, it’s too late to cancel & get a refund. Reviews said it was within walking distance of restaurants/bars. The only bars we saw were on windows. Lots of unsavory characters around & a police chase that ended on the same street, 1 block away. Upstairs was nice, temp control was good, bed was comfy, a shower curtain/door would have been nice to keep water in the shower. Neighborhood is awful. Several surrounding houses are burned out/boarded up. No way would I park a vehicle on the street. The other choice is to navigate a narrow, muddy, overgrown, "alley" to a gated parking spot. It’s very hard to negotiate with a fence directly across from it. Our new truck is scratched & has a new $700 side mirror. The pool was not clean when we arrived & didn’t get better. Had to call mgt to turn on the hot tub, it never got hot Wed night. Planned to try again Friday, but new arrivals were in it when we returned from dinner. They parked in the gated spot, so we parked in alley. This place is NOT soundproof. We heard a lot that didn't need to be heard until the wee hours. In summary, read reviews. Check neighborhoods before you book. It looks like it will be a nice area one day, but we didn’t feel safe at all & were disappointed with the stay.

Nice Place, With Some Caveats
Overall, what I learned from this stay is to stay clear of properties overseen by management companies. They simply don't have the same hands-on relation to a property as actual owners. That said, this is a beautifully decorated, comfortable accommodation with a few issues, some of which may not affect all renters: 1. THE POOL The owners have unwisely planted unwatered, shedding bamboo right next to the pool, and it makes ALOT of daily contributions to the pool: not just 'a few leaves' as house notes indicate. Owners also don't grasp some basics of pool maintenance: when I arrived the over-chlorinated water was six inches beneath the level of the skimmer, probably worsening the Japanese garden in the pool when I arrived. If you don't swim, such issues won't matter. THE KITCHEN is more kitchenette than proper kitchen, with no venting or traditional oven/stovetop, just a portable two-burner and (large) toaster oven, plus a microwave. Kitchen utensils are minimal, though the few pans that exist are pretty good. NEIGHBOR NOISE - I had the misfortune of having two screaming downstairs neighbors during my stay, going at least two rounds daily, with no clear winner. This underscored a major flaw in the construction of these two rentals: the stairwell leading to the upper unit has an adjacent interior door (mercifully, locked) that openly connects to the lower unit. Any loud noise from the lower unit is thereby amplified. OFFSTREET PARKING: Difficult to maneuver.

Cute and well kept property
We enjoyed our stay. Host was very responsive and accommodating!! We didn’t get to enjoy the pool and hot tub due to our schedule and the weather, but the area surrounding it was peaceful and relaxing. I wouldn’t consider the one parking spot that’s allotted for guest behind the house as it’s difficult to get to and space is tight. But parking wasn’t an issue as there was always ample street parking in front of the main house. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect Little Oasis
I came to Florida for a visit with family. I wanted a place of my own to escape to and when I saw this listing I knew this was it. The weather was perfect for relaxing outside by the pool. However, a little cool for swimming. I did not try out the hot tub either, but it looked very inviting! The loft was perfect for one and would also be comfortable for a couple. It was well furnished for preparing meals if that is your thing. I loved the funky decor vibe. The location is very close to downtown in a wonderful neighborhood on it's way to being revived. I loved walking through the neighborhood and seeing all of those gorgeous old homes. Many of them are restored, some are not and some are somewhere in between. Some had fun, funky yard decor and I enjoyed being inspired by that. I always felt safe, but like anywhere in the world, pay attention to your surroundings. I carry mace whenever I am out alone in an unfamiliar area. I would definitely rent this loft again. I had a good meal at Silkie's Chicken & Champagne Bar right down the block!

Amazing play to stay with a short walk to pizza and beer.
My wife and I were so glad we found this little oasis while we were in town for my niece's wedding in Jacksonville. We arrived a little later than we expected but the neighborhood was so inviting and lit up as we walked just a few blocks over to Main Street where we found a great little Pizza and a beer to wash away our long drive. We then walked across the street and found a Brewery doing stand up comedy for open mic night. The small town atmosphere this close to the metropolis of Jacksonville was an welcomed surprise. The room was clean and had everything we needed for coffee and re-heating leftovers. The pool was too chilly for us, but we enjoyed sitting out in the yard, especially in the morning with our morning coffee. 100% Recommended and may visit again on our next trip.

Everything was great. The area is in which the lodging was located was in an area of early 1900 homes. Loved the old trees and cold old home. But that area has home that are remodeled and others burnt down or run down. A mixture of both. Some homeless type people around the area but felt safe in the location we stayed.

Wow what a special place! Cute & cozy & clean. The bed was so comfortable, pillows fluffy, and sheets were soft...really appreciated that after a long day of adventure! Loved waking up in the morning being greeted by the cute kitty outside our doors & the relaxing view of the pool & birds chirping in the trees (sad we didnt get to meet the pups!). We talked about the place days after we left. Loved relaxing by the pool late evening too. Amazing landscaping. What a gem! Thanks for having us!

Gorgeous and fun stay
The loft is so fun! The colors, the set up are exactly what we needed for a fun getaway. The loft was also super clean. And the kitchen had literally everything I needed to make all of our meals. So we were able to eat and hang out and enjoy the gorgeous property without making several trips to the store. Our February stay was surprisingly warm and we were able to get in the pool and jacuzzi. I was a little uneasy about having to email the property manager each time to turn the jacuzzi on, and somehow it only worked in the mornings for us, but each time I emailed him, he responded immediately. I was surprised at how easy that process was. The location is 30 mins from the beach so we walked the beach at sunset each evening there and it was just perfect. They had extra towels, trash bags, everything I needed was there. And the email I got at check in had all the codes and all the answers to my questions, it was very helpful and thorough. I will definitely be back.
