Barndominium retreat in the desert

The barndominium was spacious, extremely well furnished and equipped with everything you could ever need including condiments and other food items. Great! The guys loved the hot tub on the great patio area, and we saw javalinas wandering close by. Though very remote which we knew from the website description, we did not realize it would take so long to get from the place to the highway. It added 30 minutes one way to our daily excursions. Overall a great place!

Perfect for first time

Great place to trek to Big Bend NP

So clean and friendly helpful owners. Outdoor space was wonderful for sitting by an evening fire or hanging on the porch catching the breeze watching deer, javelina, birds, and bunnies. The night sky views were phenomenal. My bed was comfy and the room stayed nice and cool. Only downside was the distance to the park. Over an hour drive to Terlingua. Not a show stopper, but be aware.

Awesome Experience

My husband, 11 year old daughter, and I had a four day stay and it was awesome! While yes, the road in (Terlingua Ranch Rd) was a bit long and rough, especially due to two miles of it being unpaved, we were fully aware of that and just knew to take our time. The apartment itself was amazing and offered beautiful views of the mountains and terrain during the day and the stars at night. Mark and Michelle were amazing and offered a lot of insight as to things to do and see. We planned our days so we would be either at Big Bend (kayaking the Rio Grande and horseback riding) or exploring the Terlingua Ghost Town and the beautiful views along 170 and then head back to the apartment at night to relax.

Wonderful stay under dark skies.

We had a great time here. The listing is exactly as described and Michelle and Mark are great and very friendly. It was really nice coming back to comfy beds after a long day in the park. We will definitely stay here again.

wonderful place near big bend national park

such wonderful and hospitable hosts - the place was very comfortable, and in beautiful surroundings. extremely clean. we loved the hot tub, star gazing, and watching wildlife from the porch. only 1 hr from big bend national park. highly recommended!

A peaceful and beautiful property

Michelle and Marc are very attentive hosts. The apartment was very clean and well kept. I wish we had more time to spend at the property as we were on a short getaway. We will definitely go back and spend more time at the property.

Remote Getaway

Valentines getaway to explore Big Bend & Terlingua. We were quite comfortable @ the Barndo. Beds are comfortable & appreciated TVs in both bedrooms It’s remote & we appreciated that. Mark & Michelle are very hospitable & have stocked with all items needed, even water, granola bars & crackers out on arrival.

Great Terlingua Stay

Great little place to stay when visiting the area. Hosts are very helpful and responsive to and questions or needs. Stayed here for a race in Big Bend and will stay again!!

Excellent place

The location was awesome, convenient for us to go to Big Bend NP. We liked the remote location. The hosts were very helpful and nice upon our arrival. Would like to stay here again. The place was very clean and had very nice features for our family. Had everything we needed for cooking our meals too. We had no problems at all with this place. Would recommend to anyone to stay here.

Great Place, Great Deal

This property was a fantastic deal and was just as nice as advertised. The building is small but clean and cozy. The location can be a bit hard to reach so definitely take a car you don't mind bumping around a bit in though!

New Year’s Trip to Big Bend

We chose a new moon for a return trip to Big Bend so we could get the full dark sky experience. What an amazing sight to see so many stars and the Milky Way each night! We also wanted to see a bit more of BBNP. Our hosts were terrific, communication was excellent, check-in and out was simple, and the place is cozy and well-supplied. Only wish it was a little more convenient to the park but we were warned so that’s nobody’s fault but ours. We enjoyed the surroundings and the Bad Rabbit Cafe. If you don’t mind driving (which you shouldn’t if you’re coming out this far), this is a great place to stay while you’re visiting Terlingua, Big Bend, etc.

Everything anyone could need!

This was one of the best equiped, most complete vacation rentals I have ever encountered. It was wonderful! Mark and Michelle were great hosts, always responding quickly and thoroughly to our questions.The casita had plenty of coffee, condiments, paper towels and toilet paper, unlike many others. They also had lots of towels for the hot tub, blankets for cuddling when out in the chilly evening air and plenty of comfortable furniture. This home is off the beaten track, which is exactly what we wanted. We saw all kinds of wildlife, great birds, and lovely desert plants.We did a jeep tour with Far Flung Adventures, recommended by Mark, that was excellent, and visited both the state and national Big Bend parks. It was a terrific four days.

Great place, lots of wildlife

The two bedroom apartment was wonderful, just the right space for three adults and two kids. Kitchen was well equipped. Outdoor areas were fabulous for viewing wildlife - deer, javalina, rabbits, foxes, quail and other birds. We went to Big Bend so the only drawback was over an hour drive to the park. But I don’t know that there is anything this nice that is closer. Would definitely stay there again.

Worth The Drive!!

We came to Terlingua for our son’s “destination wedding” & our stay at Casita de Chiles was so great! Yes it’s very remote being located on a big ranch, but defintely well-worth the drive out. Owners Mark & Michelle are very friendly & so accommodating, even immediately replaced a refrigerator that was on the blink!! This barndominium was stocked with everything we needed & more! Lots of wildlife viewing here & the area is SO quiet & peaceful. We enjoyed relaxing around the fire pit in 1 of the 3 outdoor seating areas and experiencing truly awesome dark skies! Thanks Mark & Michelle!

Absolutely loved it here. From the comfortable everything to the little extras!! Greetings by hosts plus all the deer!! Water, granola bars and crackers set out for us!! Plenty of towels, a magnifying mirror, quick response from hosts. Relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable!! We loved it!!

Family fall vacation

We loved the place and location, it has beautiful views. We got to see a few road runners, a fox and whole family of deer. Mark and Michelle were very nice and had great communication. My kiddos loved to explore outside and get to play with Chula. She is a sweet heart. We hope to make it back sometime soon!!
