The location of the hotel is perfect, so close to the train station and the old town of Edinburgh. The Royal Mile is 5 minutes from the hotel on the next street up, so perfect to go to the Castle and Grass market. The welcome at reception was great and we were offered a complimentary glass of fizz - a great touch. The mini bar was complimentary too which again was a fab addition, and was replenished the next day, which we weren’t expecting. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were very clean and different to other hotels. Very well decorated and appointed. There was a Dyson hair dry and straighteners for guest to use. There was a lovely coffee making machine and fresh milk in the fridge. We would definitely go again

Very comfortable bed and room. Terrific location, directly across the street from the train station. Yet extremely quiet. Right at the base of the Royal Mile. Doormen very helpful with local info. One note: “King” bed here is a “U.K. king,” essentially the same as a U.S. queen bed. We asked to change to a twin bed room, which the hotel accommodated. Made for much better night’s sleep. Nice 7th floor bar with a view of the city.

Extremely comfortable and clean. Excellent staff and support. Close to easy transit and Royal Mile. Breakfast service does not start until 7:00 a.m. making it difficult to have a hot breakfast and get to 1 day tours offered locally.

Very nice rooms with a comfortable bed. Everything in the room and bath was very well thought out. You can darken with a sliding panel. It's quite convenient if traveling by train as it's directly across from Waverley Train Station. We were worried about possible noise from the trains, but never heard a peep. The staff were friendly and more than helpful.

My Market Street Hotel room was like a jewel box, perfectly appointed and seemed much roomier than its square footage belied.

Some of the Bar staff were very snooty. Others were very nice. The bathroom was weird. They’re trying really hard to be upscale but some of the “design decisions” obviously were made by rank amateurs. For example, lift the toilet seat and have it fall back and hit the flush button precisely as though that was the intent. The water then kept running because the weight of the seat kept the flusher button depressed. DUH. Got to admit I’d never seen that one before. Otherwise it was fine. Nespresso in the room was nice and as I had an early start to catch a flight I appreciated the real coffee.
