Where can I rent a car in Barbados?
As in most destinations, you’ll find a few car rental companies in and around the airport, Grantley Adams International. The brands here include the well-known Sixt. The lion’s share of Barbados’ car rental options, however, are dotted throughout the capital, Bridgetown, under half an hour’s taxi ride to the west. Most of these firms, like Coconut Car Rentals and Tours, are local to the island. You’ll be able to arrange for your car to be dropped off near you or to get a transfer to wherever it is.
What documents do I need to drive my rental car?
As well as your driving license and a passport or other internationally recognized form of photo ID with at least three months of validity left, you will need an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a Barbados Driver’s License. The latter can be bought from your car rental company when you collect your car.
How old do I have to be to rent a car in Barbados?
Do note that you’ll need to be at least 21, and drivers under 25 can expect to pay a surcharge.
Is it worth booking in advance?
