I had no hot water when I arrived. Called for service and I’m not sure if they tried but I had to run the water a good 20 minutes before hot water would come up. The shower head was in bad condition also. Not fixed. This is the second time at this hotel and there has been lack of upkeep noticed. I love the lobby area but it’s not enough to merit another stay. I hope improvement happens for the hotel. It is an institution.

It was perfect!
We love this hotel! We've stayed here numerous times over the years and it has never disappointed! This time we got an upgrade to the top floor and we had a big room with a great view of the city! The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do during our stay.

It was lovely to step in to the beautiful lobby, which was full of life in the evening (live music, people enjoying drinks and conversation lounging in the club chairs). Our room on the 23rd floor was spacious (2 beds, 2 bathrooms), very clean, although it was oriented towards other side of the building, so not with a great view. The beds with excellent mattress and pillows provided great sleep. Staff was not very friendly, and the check-in took a while. However, the hotel is at a great location for theater, museum, dining, with easy parking options.

What a beautiful, historic building! We didn’t have time to use the pool or fitness facilities but would have loved to. The fitness center basically has a full gym. Our room was spacious; my only complaint was that our sage did not work. Regardless we will stay here again the next time we are in Chicago.

Plenty of better hotels in the area.
Hotel is dated and feels understaffed. The building is grand and was once a grand hotel. That is no more. Stay felt like a stay at a college dormitory. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom is cheap and dated. AC makes the room smell like mildew and mold. My tub did not drain on first day. The cleaning staff left their spray bottle in my sink as a gift I guess. None of the sockets in the room can hold on to a plug! On top of it they charge a $25 daily fee that is useless to most travelers. I will take a cup of coffee and/or a coffee maker which the room did not have. One positive thing, nice modern gym.

This is a classic hotel in a great location with a beautiful lobby. Unfortunately our standard king room was small, and showed clear signs of neglect. The view from the window was very poor, and the hallway ceilings had staining and water damage. For what we paid (including a mandatory “resort fee”) I expected much better. I don’t plan to stay here again.

It’s gorgeous of course and I loved the history. I wished I had more time to check out the exhibits and the event rooms. You can text the staff if anything comes up and hear back from them right away. Everyone was extremely courteous. But I really wanted the ability to make coffee in my room. Also, there were VERY limited vegan options for dining which is a common request in 2024.
