At the lake for a family wedding

What a perfect weekend get away for a family wedding in Carbondale at St. Rose of Lima Church and then reception at Birchtown Wedding and Evenings, which as less than 3 miles from the house! The home is spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed views on the porches of the lake and time out by the fire pit. Just lovely!

Great space for a family get together!

The open Kitchen, dinning room and living room were so nice and then have a HUGE seperate second living room and bar was great. We had two huge areas for different groups to hang out. We also appreciate the bedroom bath on the first floor. Kitchen was very well stocked.

Horrible experience.

We were not there. The property owners cancelled on us one month after the confirmation was received. We were at a wedding at Fern Hall - right down the road and noticed that the property seemed vacant. We told all of the guests about the owners improper cancellation of our confirmed stay. Soooo unhappy with our vrbo experience - you don’t seem to know what you’re doing. THE PROPERTY OWNERS CANCELED ON US AFTER CONFIRMATION!

Perfect family getaway by a lake

James' place was very clean and spacious for a family get away. Full kitchen, clean and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Rental comes with access to Crystal lake private beach which was wonderful. James was very helpful and quick to respond.

Exceeded expectations

Our good friends daughter was getting married at the Fern Hall Estate and we did not like the hotel options provided. We couldn’t have had a better weekend. The house is bigger and better than the listing shows. We were a party of 8 adults and a 1 year old and theee was plenty of room for all. The house was furnished beautifully.

Great House and Great Location

Family of 12 stayed here for holidays. Enjoyed the great views and ample living spaces for everyone to gather or separate as needed. Loved the tankless hot water heater to support everyone taking showers at random times without worrying about running out of hot water. Enjoyed having an open garage bay to pull in to unload the cars out of the weather. Thanks for the great communication and supporting our arrival and departure.

Perfect wedding weekend getaway!

I would give this a 10-star review if it was possible. We booked for a wedding weekend away from home, and this was truly a home away from home. James was an absolute star of a host—he was kind, professional, responsive, and accommodated any special requests with ease. James made it very easy to check in and out. The welcome packet that James emailed to us a few days beforehand is very organized and detail-oriented, which made the entire stay enjoyable, stress-free, and seamless. Additionally, James was always available if we had any questions, and he checked in on us regularly to make sure everything was going well. The house was immaculate, and exceeded all of our needs and expectations in every way. Everything was spotless, and the views of Crystal lake are gorgeous. We will absolutely stay here again if the need arises, even if it is just for my husband and I. Thank you James for hosting us!

Better then expected

Staying at this property (4 adults/ 4 kids) was definitely one of the highlights of our trip for to Elk Mountain. James is the BEST host and was incredibly responsive from the time of booking through us exiting the house. He checked on us prior to arrival to help aide us in checking in and then made sure we had what we needed to feel at home with a wonderful welcome basket. Each bedroom is spacious and large with a comfy bed and has access to a large bathroom (one in master, jack and jill for 3 bedrooms, and an additional ensuite in the first floor). The two large living areas were great for kids and parents to have some separate OR together time! The garage entry into basement with plenty of storage space for ski stuff was much appreciated. The basement equipped with ping pong table, foosball and air hockey was enjoyed by the teenagers. James sent a document with general house info, special features (fire pit/jacuzzi tub) info, area suggestions for all season, dining, shopping to us that showed he really cared that you fully enjoyed all the house and area had to offer. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this property - and James as a host and maybe tour guide :)
