This is a truly unique & beautiful guesthouse in a tranquil location. Thora is an incredible artist, chef and warm host. I enjoyed my stay there immensely.

best guesthouse experience

Best guesthouse experience in Iceland. The location - by waterfalled cliffs and the bay - is beautiful, in an entire country of beautiful locations. The guesthouse itself functions also as an art space, which you can see in the entry hallway as well as in the design / decor of the place. The service is excellent - Thora and Sumar are wonderful hosts (and great gardeners) and Hubert was exceptionally welcoming. Also, notably eco-friendly - e.g., the food they serve they grow in their own greenhouse and/or source it locally, they compost, etc. Was the most peaceful time I had in Iceland and would absolutely stay here again.

I liked that the property had a lot of character. A farmhouse turned into a guesthouse is a nice idea. However, the room we slept in was really small - could hardly get our bags situated comfortably in there. In the city I could understand space as a limited factor but in the country side I don’t get it. I didn’t like that the shared bathroom was so far from our rooms as well. We had to walk through a common area where people also eat to get to the bathroom. Rather inconvenient. Also the stairs are a bit hazardous and I can see one tripping if not careful. The host/owner seemed a little bit annoyed when we arrived later in the night (though, still within the check-in time frame stated), and it seemed she had to force herself a bit to be hospitable. She didn’t show us that there was a kitchen right around our room - we totally could have stored our food there but decided to eat it up as fast we could that night! The towels offered were as stiff as cardboards, there were insects that kept us up at night in our room and big mosquitoes in the bath, the paid breakfast was quite measly in terms of variety, quality, and quantity. No hot/warm foods either. Lastly, what I liked least about the place is that it felt like a museum/store rather than a home or a resting place because the owner displayed and was selling local items in her home. The last thing I want to do is buy something when I come home to rest. So overall, I was not rested or refreshed when I stayed here.

Wow what a location

Wow what a location. Way off the beaten path. In the middle of nowhere, yet close to everything in the westfjords. Idealic location next to the shore with amazing views. Hosts are very nice with a brand new hotel. Stay here to be close to the falls and the cliffs.

Lo que más me gustó fue: - Estilo moderno del establecimiento - Personal simpático y muy amable - Habitaciones en perfecto estado - Entorno en plena naturaleza y vistas inmejorables - Cocina compartida - Aparcamiento en la puerta - WiFi funcionaba perfectamente - Hervidor e infusiones gratis Lo que menos me gustó: - La limpieza de la habitación muy justa - Se escuchaba perfectamente a los clientes de la otra habitación - El camino de acceso al hotel tiene muchos baches y no está asfaltado - Ya que el hotel se encuentra lejos de una población, el desayuno debería estar incluido. En definitiva, es un alojamiento muy recomendable si quieres relajarte y disfrutar de la naturaleza.

Tolle außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit super netten Gastgebern. Sehr familiär und gemütlich. Moderne trifft Historie in der Abgeschiedenheit. Absolut empfehlenswert, allerdings mit einer Anfahrt ab geteerter (Haupt-)Straße von 15km über Schotterweg - lohnt sich!

Très bon séjour dans cette maison très design réhabilitée avec goût par le studio BUA. Hôte charmante. Petit déjeuner excellent payant. Chambres grand confort, literie au top et vue superbe sur le fjord. Nous recommandons.

La maison est tellement magnifique. C’est une vieille maison de ferme qui vient d’être rénovée. L’architecte a fait un très bon travail. Aussi, la maison se trouve dans un lieu qui est de toute beauté, au pied des montagnes et face à un fjord où le soleil se couche. Seul point négatif : je trouve qu’il faisait trop froid dans la pièce commune. Dans la chambre, ça allait.
