This was a nice place to take a shower and sleep. I didn't need any more than that, and it served the purpose. It's not super fancy or anything like that, and the paint and fixtures show their age, but everything worked fine. It was very convenient to the Metro station and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. The desk clerks were courteous and helpful.
It was like stepping back in time; the rooms were very large with plenty of head space. The bathroom was a little small but it did the job. Only concern there was a loose outlet cover by the door. Otherwise pretty good.
Its loud around the area cause of a Bar at the bottom of the Hotel. Theres no Air conditioning and you cant open the window cause of the noise coming from the street. Great location, plenty of places to eat.
The hotel is gross, old, stained walls and ceiling. TV didn’t work. Shower filled 2 inches with water(poor drainage). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
Only one outlet worked in the room and there weren’t any in the bathroom. VERY dated- needs updating. Had to get a new hair dryer- didn’t work. Phone worked sporadicly. The staff are outstanding. $15.95 breakfast for a one year old and a 6year old is ridiculous.
Rooms are Old and smelly generally hotel is very dirty
Basically, this is a very old hotel that could use some updates to make their customers stay more pleasant, like window A/C units in each room. This hotel is in a very noisy area and the Fan on the A/C unit would have helped us sleep. That said, this is a very affordable hotel as-is, in a Great location within walking distance of the majority if National monuments and Smithsonian museums. In five days my wife and I visited all of them and never took a taxi. There are also a large number of very good to exceptional restaurants nearby including two on the first floor of this hotel. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to a friend, but clearly stating what I have already mentioned.
We picked this hotel because it is centrally located in downtown DC. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, paint chips on the carpet, the carpet was stained from previous spills, wood trim missing a lot of paint,, ceiling vents were really dirty. I wouldn't stay here again
It has a great location but…
The property location is great. It's an old building but works for what it is. The price was amazing so no complaints.
A
The cleanliness and maintenance of this hotel was terrible. We checked out after two nights and spent money on another hotel for five nights because it was so bad. The outlets in the room sparked when you plugged in any cord. There was no control of air-conditioning and it was hot. There were bedbugs. It smelled disgusting. I want my money reimbursed for the five nights I prepaid for that we did not stay. I would tell anyone considering this hotel to run and don’t do it.
Wonderful location and super friendly staff. Bed was soft and comfortable. Loved the charm of an older, historic hotel.
I give it a C in my ranking because the place is walking distance to the convention center and good historic place to view and learn. But the bathrooms just needed upgrades is all.
SUPER value for a stay in this area. Hotel is older, obviously, but still in good shape and clean. Very convenient location. Very spacious family rooms. Low water pressure in shower, but that's insignificant given how good everything else is. Would absolutely stay again and recommend to others.
Hotel is dated but clean and did the job close to all the monuments the bar down stairs was good the waitress a crack up good ole Linda and the breakfast restaurant was very very clean and nice staff would stay again 😀
