I booked the room for a surprise visit for my boyfriend’s birthday. I decided to pay the extra $80 for an upgraded room with an ocean view balcony. Our first room that I bought as a so called balcony room was no balcony, it was a window ledge that neither my bf nor I could barely stand on let alone walk or sit. It was a joke. After complaining to the front desk I was shown a patio room with no view as an option to move. This was not close to what I had booked. On my second trip back to complain Elizabeth at the front desk indicated she was not able to move us to an actual balcony as there weren’t any. I’m not sure how they can sell and book one but then not have any available. I felt scammed. Eventually Elizabeth did move us to a two story bigger room but again it wasn’t what I had booked or wanted. To her credit she was very sweet and tried to make us happy. The problem was it was a hike to get to this new room and I didn’t need three beds and two bathrooms. I simply wanted a balcony view but after running around the complex we settled for this location so at least we could enjoy our day as the sun was setting by this time. Overall staff was friendly and attentive and the location was beautiful and centrally located to downtown. I believe however that the hotel shouldn’t advertise a balcony when they don’t have one. Definitely book the most average room you need.
