My recent vacation required a one-night stay in Chicago and this Holiday Inn Express fit the bill nicely. A shuttle operated from Midway and brought me to the front door. The clerk made a quick check-in, and the room was modern with a Keurig-style coffee maker. The best part was the bed and the tremendously comfortable pillows. The next morning, the full restaurant-style breakfast awaited. Later on, it was easy to board the shuttle again to get to the Orange Line station for my connections to Amtrak. My only quibble was a front desk clerk who answered my innocent, appropriate questions "Is there anyplace to get a drink around here?" "Do you know what the pillows are made out of?" with terse, one-word answers as if I was bothering her.

Trouble checking in, stated we were at the wrong hotel and couldn’t find the name/reservation. Finally located it and now we are having to go back and get a double charge for the incorrect price adjusted. Too many issues to use probity at hotels. There’s always an issue. Also, the staff at breakfast stuck her in gloved hand inside the eggs at the buffet, when I advised the front desk they just began to speak Spanish and did not address the staff at all. I left hungry because that was highly unsanitary.
Had no pool
We had a 5am flight out of MDW, this is right down the street so it was perfect. They have a free 24 hour shuttle that is shared with the other couple of hotels within the same block (Hampton Inn etc.). We called for the shuttle at 4am and it was there in 5 minutes. It was surprisingly packed at that time of the morning but we got seats and we at the terminal in 5 minutes. The hotel is actually walkable to the airport and it's El stop, about 15 minutes down the street. We did that a couple of times to get into the city rather than wait for a city bus. Lots of places to eat, including Giordanos and Lou's if you want pizza. Clean, would recommend to anyone with early or late flight out of MDW if you don't want to go downtown.

Easy shuttle to Midway.
So the building facility is a little tired, but the service, primarily front desk, is outstanding. We needed a place close to Midway (so it’s not the quietest) and this fit the bill. Easy checkin and out, fast free shuttle to airport. If you need a place to sleep close to Midway, this fits the bill.l
