Where can I rent a car in Grand Cayman?

George Town is the capital of the Cayman Islands and has a great selection of car rental companies. Choose from international brands such as Hertz and Budget, as well as smaller local options including Cayman Auto Rentals. There’s a good concentration of car firms at the exits to Owen Roberts International Airport, which is also located in George Town.


What age restrictions are there on Renting a Car Grand Cayman?

You need to be at least 18 to rent a car here. Between the ages of 26 and 69, you’ll normally pay the basic rate. If you’re 25 or under or 70 or over, most firms will charge you extra. Shop around to see the different rates on offer.


What documents do I need to drive my rented car?

You’ll need to show a valid domestic driver’s license and passport in order to pick up your rental car in the first place. To drive it, you’ll also need a visitor’s permit, which your car rental company can provide. If you have an International Driving Permit (IDP) you won’t need the visitor’s permit, however.


Will I need to pay a security deposit?

When you collect your rental car, you’ll need to pay the rental charge as well as a deposit that you’ll get back in full on returning the car. Most companies expect credit card deposits, but some do accept cash and debit card payments.
