Our hotel room had the most awful smell. We walked in and it hit us right in the face. We propped the outside door opened and called the front desk. The clerk offered to bring up an ionizer to clean the air. He said it would take an hour and we’d have to leave. He couldn’t guarantee how long or how well the smell would be cleared up for. He couldn’t get us a different room. It was really really disgusting. Honestly. I had booked with orbitz and orbitz said they would give me a full refund but needed to talk with the manager that she couldn’t reach. So we checked out of the hotel. I gave the clerk our key and said that we were not staying. (Room 237) We then had to go find a different hotel. I just received an email from orbitz that the manager would not give us our money back for the first night, only for the second night. This is not ethical. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Pay 50$ more per night and stay somewhere that doesn’t make you feel sick just standing in the room. I have never left a bad review and I would feel bad to hurt their business. This is unacceptable - they couldn’t offer me a different room. They didn’t know if the smell would go away. ( it wasn’t just the air, it was in the walls and fabric and carpet etc) we could not stay there. No service was provided. No money should be taken from us.
